As rich as their biographies were in terms of journeys, flamboyance and encounters with famous personalities, the items in the collection are just as diverse and provide an insight into various themes of European art and cultural history. In addition to the works of art, furniture, books and other objects from the princely possessions on display in the palace, the museum’s collection today also includes paintings, sculptures, extensive holdings of prints and archives, a research library and a photographic library.
During the summer season, paintings by the landscape painter Carl Blechen and his students and contemporaries can be discovered in the Visitor Centre.
