Prince Pückler’s ‘Hints on Landscape Gardening’ were published in 1834. Far more than just a scholarly work containing practical advice, the publication quickly became a classic of garden literature and garnered international acclaim. The online exhibition marks the 190th anniversary since it was first published and presents the multifaceted history of ‘Hints’, from its creation to the artists who influenced it and its latter-day reception.

175 years of Branitz. One park, two perspectives

In 1869, Prince Pückler commissioned Carl von Wieland to photograph some of the most beautiful parts of Branitz Park. The resulting photos provide contemporary impressions of the original buildings and vegetation. In this online exhibition, twelve of von Wieland’s photographs are compared with photos taken in the 2021 anniversary year.
